UBC Data Bites: Introduction to using Markdown with Research Data (webinar) Online

Non-UBC attendees welcome!

This beginner-friendly workshop, delivered by the UBC Library Research Data Management team, explains why Markdown is an essential skill for modern research workflows. Designed for graduate students, researchers, and staff, the session highlights how Markdown improves documentation, collaboration, and reproducibility while reducing reliance on complex software.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Understand the benefits of using Markdown for writing research notes, README files, and open documentation
  • Create clean, lightweight, and easily shareable documents using simple Markdown syntax
  • Integrate Markdown into research practices for better version control, publishing, and long-term project management
